Drivers & Approach
Scientifically grounded. Practically tested. Systemically informed.
- Integrating modern performance psychology, neurophysiology, and systems thinking.
- Shared growth as the foundation for more consistent performance.
- Creating space for sustainable change and personal development.
- Structured, practical, and based on mutual respect.
- Focusing on the interplay of mind, action, and heart.
- The goal: Flow, inner clarity, and personal peak performance fueled by positive energy.
Philosophy & Collaboration
I work with people as the experts in their own lives - using a systemic, resource-oriented, and respectful approach
- People are far more than their current performance.
- Many resources and competencies are already present, but not yet consciously accessible.
- Coaching means making potential visible and putting it to use.
- Collaboration is based on equality, clarity, and trust.
- Support during challenging moments and periods of change.
- The goal: To remain capable of taking action, resilient, focused, and fully engaged.
Performance
in Context
Performance never exists in isolation; it always emerges through interaction with the relevant environment.
- People are viewed as complex systems.
- Relevant contexts are taken into account: family, team, organization, and wider environment.
- Working with proven approaches from the systemic tradition.
- Drawing on insights from performance psychology, including the work of Jim Loehr.
- Focusing on self-efficacy: understanding and addressing personal challenges more effectively.
- The goal: Sustainable performance, effective strategies, and a higher quality of life.
The roots of my approach
Overview: Four figures who have examined performance from different perspectives have shaped my thinking and work:
Dr. Jim Loehr
Complex Coaching incorporates the expertise of Jim Loehr, one of the world’s leading performance psychologists. Loehr co-founded the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute, which has trained more than 250,000 business and sports leaders worldwide, including 17 world No. 1 athletes. As an author, he revolutionized our understanding of peak performance, particularly through his work on energy management. These energy-based performance approaches are a key component of the Complex Coaching concept.
Klaus Regnault
European representative of Jim Loehr and a pioneer of performance coaching in Europe during the 1990s. Founder of Complex Coaching (NZ), he is also a personal friend, mentor, and longtime companion on my professional journey.
Prof. Fritz B. Simon
Systems theorist, psychiatrist, and organizational consultant; co-founder of the “Heidelberg School”; named one of the “40 Leading Minds in Human Resources” three times; and regarded as one of the most influential and innovative systemic therapists and theorists.
Lars Lienhard
Originator of Neuro Athletic Training (NAT), coach, educator, and consultant to elite athletes, businesses, and special forces. For many years, he has trained world-class athletes, including the German national football team at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Alexander Zverev, and German track-and-field athletes at the 2016 Olympic Games.
